About the design

The Old Fisherman and His Treasures is a series of jewelry casted in tin. These are pieces of jewelry that carries stories: of salt-sprayed winds, rusty piers, and the passage of time. The old sea bear, an icon that has crossed boundaries between generations and places, painted by the German artist Harry Haerendel (1893–1982), has been reproduced countless times over the years. For me, he is a symbol of the soul of seafaring and harbor life, a figure that echoes both melancholy and hope for the future.

In my hands, the old sea bear and his treasures become jewelry in tin, a metal with a raw yet warm character. Castings of seashells are fragments of something lost but simultaneously enduring – the sea’s own memories. They carry my connection to Germany and my love for the Swedish West Coast, a place where layers of history can still be sensed in the worn harbor districts and the fresh coastal breeze.

These are a pieces of jewelry that carries stories. A reminder of a bygone time, but also a love letter to what endures: the sea, the wind, and the longing for the horizon.

Taking Care of Your jewelry

Tin is quite a soft metal. If it comes in contact with fabric while wearing, it will keep its shine perfectly. It can get a little gray when not worn, and the best way to polish it is simply to wear it, as it will polish itself.

Care tips:

  • Store the piece in a dry place, ideally in an airtight bag or box, to prevent oxidation.
  • Avoid contact with strong chemicals, such as perfume, lotion, cleaning products, or hairspray. Apply these before putting on your jewelry.
  • If the tin becomes dull, gently polish it with a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • Keep the jewelry away from extreme heat or bending, as tin is a softer metal.
  • Regular wear will naturally polish the tin and create a beautiful patina over time.

The leather strap will stay nice if you keep it away from water, so take it off when you take a bath, go for a swim, or take a shower.
